A useful way to gain a greater understanding of a pupil's quality of life where it is not possible to obtain sufficient information from pupils themselves, is to ask proxy respondents for their views on the pupil's quality of life.

Try the following activity.

Ask those who know the pupil best, e.g. teachers, parents, TAs, the four questions that appear on the next screen in relation to one or more of the quality of life indicators:

  • Physical well-being
  • Emotional well-being
  • Self-determination
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Social inclusion
  • Personal development
  • Material well-being
  • Rights and privacy
