As a young AAC
user develops physically, cognitively or is able to demonstrate new skills, a process
of continuous review and assessment needs to take place. This ensures optimum access
to the curriculum and optimum success in achieving targets set within their IEP.
A framework for the assessment and review of AAC needs and provision is essential.
Without a guarantee of delivery of the component parts of the package of needs and
support, resulting from the assessment, there is little point in going beyond the
stage of recommendations.
One example of a cyclical framework can be found in the next package (Continuous
assessment and review process).
Once you have completed this task, you will need to decide how you plan to record
your findings.
