to explore

An effective physical curriculum should explore the following key areas:
- Eye/hand co-ordination and fine motor control;
- Posture;
- Spatial awareness; and
- Orientation and movement.
(Aird, 2001)
A teacher's skill lies in the ability to make that exploration exciting to each and every individual.
The exploration and the physical practice are key elements that will help the teacher to connect with the pupil.
Use of regular and routine physiotherapy and hydrotherapy is a good place to start in any physical curriculum.
In the following clip a group of children receive physiotherapy in their school's gym.
How do the children respond to the physiotherapy session?
Notice the marked difference between the children at the start and the end of the clip. The physiotherapy has engaged them; their movements, their sounds and their expressions reflect this.
How might this type of physiotherapy help children that you know?
